This vineyard designate wine will be bottled in early fall and will be released in November of 2019.  We are offering a chance to pre-purchase a six pack of this wine at 15% off of the normal price.  You can have the option of having your purchase shipped in early November or it can be picked up at the winery thanksgiving  events.  The fruit was brought in with no signs of disease pressure or bird damage so extensive hand sorting wasn't necessary.  25 percent whole cluster with spontaneous fermentation and pressed off after 23 days on skins.  Dark and delicious, this wine is one of the best wines that I've ever made.  Only 75 cases will be produced so please reserve your six pack now.

The 2018 Vintage

The 2018 vintage was yet again one of the warmest growing seasons in recorded history in the Willamette Valley. It began with a warm Winter that gave way to a wet early Spring.  Moderate temperatures in late Spring led to ideal growing conditions throughout the region and continued into summer.  The sunny days and cool nights continued into late October which allowed extended hang times with very ripe fruit. Total Degree Days for McMinnville topped out at 2570 with wineries reporting higher yields and little need for extensive hand sorting on the crush line.

Yates Conwill Vineyard is owned by Stephen Conwill and is located in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA.  This 12 acre site is home to our one acre block of Dijon clone 777 Pinot Noir.  At an elevation of 450 feet, this vineyard has vines spaced on a VSP trellis at 7’ X 4’ for a vine density of 1555 vines per acre.  The well-drained soils are marine based and made up of bands of silty and sandy clay loams that are mixed with gravel from ancient seabeds. The clusters that come from this vineyard are just bursting with dark cherries and violets and abundant structure. The topography of the slope varies from block to block with minor undulations that almost seem like swells out on the Ocean. This is a relatively warm site so it can be one of the first vineyards that we’ll pick every year.
